Holding outreach activities impresses on me that sharing a part of what we have was more fulfilling than eating ice cream. Even just one day, seeing the children happy through games they played, the story they've heard , and through the lessons taught them how to properly wash their hands and brush their teeth,, the ice cream they ate, fight packs they received, prizes they've won scan give a sense of fulfillment- thought this, we can share God's love to others.

I personally enjoyed the company of the kids who actively participated in the games and showed their willingness to learn.

As I read to the kids, I saw in their eyes the excitement not just to be entertained , but also to learn and be enlightened by the story.

I saw how even the parents were delighted that their kids enjoyed the many presents they received. I'm sure that the school supplies would be of good use in their learning process. Each face had story to tell, each carrying a hope for a brighter future. The kids in the community may come from different families; they may gave different dreams and interests; but , no matter all that, I believe in these kids will soon grow up and find their own places in society. And even just for a few hours I am glad that we were a part of their journey

As human beings, there is this innate survival instinct in every person. Looking back thousands of years ago, when the word civilization wasn't yet coined, barbarism existed. As the term suggests, individuals hard to literally "fight" for their quest of survival hence wars occurred frequently. Obviously, through the years, man has learned to find means in order to create a relatively peaceful society. Butt even today, we still have this "survival instinct, because we are competing globally with one another

Humans have also been born and blessed by the ability to help his / her fellowmen. The lyrics of the popular song " No one is and island, prove that indeed , no one wants to be alone . Hence, each one helps his/ her neighbor in order to achieve great things like development and even solidarity in society .As human beings, we have also been blessed by our creator with the spirit of understanding , compassion and mercy

The event began with a  ceremony at the Philippine-American Cemetery to remember the American Baptist missionaries and Filipino leaders who have laid the groundwork for this University. An opening program at the Alumni Promenade and Concert Park fallowed. At the APCP, the "PAGHILIAMBITANAY exhibit was put up featuring the different programs and Development Center (KDC), Outreach Office and the *(ANEC) at the Alumni Promenade Concert Park.

For years, Central Philippine University has brought not only knowledge to its students and alumni who are now practicing in their chosen fields, but it has a bequeathed God's Word unto them.

That is why the University's theme is centered on Scientia et Fides, Knowledge and Faith working hand in hand in accomplishing the University's goal of consolidated academic and spiritual refinement.

From Jaro Industrial School, a small institution built by Baptist missionaries on October 1, 1905 during the first year of American colonial rule, to Central Philippine University, a large, 24 -hectare complex of buildings of learning. the university has come a long way

The highlight of the day was the performance of Gymnics Philippines, a group of young acrobats who enthralled the audience with their exceptional display of flexibility and gravity-defying motion at the university covered gym. Their performance reflected on the theme, as each of them worked in unison to give the audience a breath taking, and I say heart stopping performance that could have induced either fear or anticipation.

It is our hope that the 2010 CPU foundation day has inspired the front liners of CPU to find more meaningful and relevant ways expressing its motto of "Scientia et Fides" as it lives through its 10-5th year of delivering EXEMPLARY CHRISTIAN EDUCATION FOR LIFE.

I am proud to be a centralian bringing with me the central spirit

Keeping The Spirit

Our recent university day celebration demonstrated the fact, that in this world, competition is a reality. In every game, there is always a champion and nobody is invincible.

It is great to bask under the shining glory of victory, amidst medals and trophies; to experience the joy of having one's efforts rewarded; to feel elated over positive returns after frenzied preparations. But above all these are the rewards of contentment and fulfillment. This is the yearning of every college: to bring home the championship trophy.

The university exists to provide students with opportunities to develop not only the mind, but also the heart, and the soul. Thus, it ensures that every year, the University Day is held so that we, students, will have a venue to showcase our God-given talents. This annual event is a time for us to exercise the spirit of unity, cooperation and camaraderie. Hence, we must set aside pride and strife, which can surely dampen a healthy, delightful competition

When we join contest, we must do so not just to win, for through them, we can actually become better individuals as we hone our talents and even our leadership skills. Then we should realize, too, that our best efforts and cooperation can bring success and also honor the ultimate giver of talents.

Struggling through the many challenges, we may have weakened at times, but what matters most is our persistence to respond positively, to exert best efforts to keep the central spirit alive.

Thus, in our university day competitions, nobody should think himself/herself a loser. Although a winner is always proclaimed in a contest, a Centralian should think this way-that those who have done their best, enjoyed themselves, gained friends, and created fond memories, and winners in their own right.

After all, that is what the Central Spirit is all about.

Voices of Central

Dear reader,

I invite you to enter a world where both knowlede and faith are pooled toghether. As students of Central, all of us have been equipped with the privilege of speech, the power of the pen and the gift of the mind to voice out our opinions and sentiments to our fellow students and the administration.

As we embody the motto of our school, " Scientia et Fides" or "Knowledege and faith", let us continue to uphold and revive the things that are of importance to us like our values and traditions. The purpose for this is not retrogress but to make a quantum leap to the future by blending the knowldege that our school teaches with the faith that can help us make the leap.

As you flip through the pages, allow yourself to plunge into the depths of awareness and information. Be infformed and challenged by promoting positive change amidst the many circumstances of life that we may be currently experiencing individually, as Centralians, and more collectively, as a nation

As the central echo continues to embark on this journey into the world of perspectives, principles and diversions, you are an indispensable part, as member of the student community of our university.
